Charlottesville, VA – Claire Russo, Democratic candidate in Virginia’s 5th district, announces raising over $210,000 in the 4th quarter of 2019, her first quarter in the race.
In addition to her six figure raise, the Russo campaign reports that over 100 members of veteran and active duty families contributed to the campaign last quarter.
“I am inspired by the overwhelming support we’ve received in our first few months. We are raising the resources necessary to defeat Denver Riggleman and we are doing it without any corporate PAC money” said Claire Russo. “This campaign is powered by everyday people — teachers, public servants, and members of our military — and I will always put them first in Congress.”
Russo raised more money from individual supporters in one single quarter than Congressman Riggleman has all year — his campaign has reported only 25% of all contributions coming from individuals for the first three quarterly reports of the year.
Claire joined the Marine Corps at 23 and served as an Intelligence Officer, deploying to Fallujah, Iraq where she led a team of Marines targeting insurgent networks. She continued her service working as a civilian advisor to the Department of the Army, eventually serving on General Petraeus’s counter insurgency advisory team where she evaluated the training and employment of female engagement teams and their support of special operations forces in Afghanistan. Claire and her husband Josh, an Army Special Forces Officer, live in Earlysville with their three children.
